1. Ask For Overtime
Most people don’t hate their jobs, so it might be a good idea to ask your boss about overtime. If you do dislike your career, this probably isn’t the option for you. The goal is to use your free time wisely, and if you don’t enjoy what you do, you’re not going to want to do it.
You can find many other ways to earn extra money, and I’ve got the hacks to help you. If you could make $300 a week extra, this works out to about $1,200 a month. This can easily cover your monthly bills or help you start an emergency fund or savings account.
It is realistic to earn $300 a week online, which is an achievable goal for a full income or a side hustle income. You’ve got to think about these methods I list below and decide which ones are most appropriate for your needs and lifestyle.
2. Use Cashback Apps
Downloading an app isn’t going to earn you hundreds of dollars, but Ibotta does give you cashback while you go grocery shopping. It has a large list of items available that all qualify for some money back. When you sign up, you get a bonus of $10. You can register now and use it whenever you do plan to shop.
While you aren’t likely to make $300 a week using Ibotta, you can make some money. Plus, you’re already shopping for these items and need them. I recommend it because you get used to it quickly, and it takes little time to check to see what cashback you earned.
Some other apps similar to Ibotta are:
- Fetch Rewards
- Fluz
3. Get Paid For Your Opinion
It’s true that most survey websites are time-wasters, but there are ways to make more money than you think using surveys. There are countless survey companies out there, but you want one that offers quick payments.
Make sure you actually get money and not a gift card. While these can be nice and help you feel like you earned a treat, you want cash that can be saved or put toward a bill.
Survey Junkie offers fast payments and doesn’t require you to ‘earn’ a lot before getting your reward. Just remember that each survey provides a different amount, so check out the ones that pay big and do those. Some surveys pay up to $70 and don’t take that long to finish.
I find that I rarely qualify for most surveys, but I do them when I have a little extra time on my hands. These are some of my favorite options because they’re free to join and easy to use:
- Inbox Dollars – Get a $5 bonus for signing up. You actually earn points, which corresponds to a dollar amount.
- KashKick – A low payout threshold makes this a great option.
- Swagbucks – Get a $5 bonus for signing up. This is a highly reputable survey site that’s been around a long time.
- Branded Surveys – Get a 100 point bonus for signing up. They’ve paid out over $15 million dollars to their 2 million members.
This at-home money-making option isn’t for everyone, so don’t feel bad if you skip this one altogether. It’s a great way to monetize small segments of time when you’re waiting in line or for a meeting to start.
4. Teach English Online
Are you a native English speaker and have a decent internet connection? You could teach English online to people in other countries, including China. For this one, you need a college degree in education with a background in English.
It’s possible to earn up to $25 each hour but your rate will vary depending on a few factors. When you teach more people English, you earn more. You can also check out these options for tutoring online.
5. Pet Sit or Dog Walk
This is what I did when I needed money ASAP. I joined Rover and found clients who were looking for an experienced pet sitter. I made around $20 per half-hour visit and could make my own hours to work around my family’s schedule. I even took my infant son with me to some of my cat sits (with owner approval first).
If you love pets and are comfortable around them, pet sitting is a great way to earn money. You can easily make an extra $300 + every month doing dog walking part-time. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, check out my tips for becoming a Rover pet sitter and getting your profile to stand out.
6. Reach Your Weight Loss Goals
This idea isn’t likely to let you earn $300 regularly but could work in the short-term. Companies like HealthyWage pay you for reaching weight-loss goals. The amounts you can earn vary but to increase earnings you should join the challenges.
You do need to have some skin in the game so there is a monetary penalty if you don’t reach your goal.
7. Part-Time Social Media Manager
This is a job that has been growing a lot. In the past, you were hired as a full-time employee of a company. Nowadays, many businesses are hiring this out on a part-time basis to freelancers. Even better is that you can get this job without a degree as long as you have some experience to show.
If you love social media and want to do this as an independent contractor, I recommend you get training from someone who is doing so successfully. Go here for 7 days of training for only $1. You’ll learn how to get clients and set up your side hustle.
Even taking on one part-time client can earn you $300 a month. If you have a successful personal social account and can help small businesses leverage the platform, getting clients is possible. If social media isn’t your focus, you can get hired as a virtual assistant which usually includes more basic tasks.
8. Freelance Proofreading
If you’re a word nerd and are constantly finding errors in people’s writing (possibly even here), then consider becoming a freelance proofreader. You get paid to proofread and edit documents for clients on an as-needed basis.
You can either apply to get hired by a freelance proofreading company or try to start up your own business. If you want to be hired part-time, check out beginner proofreading jobs. Proofreaders can make anywhere between $20 to $50 plus per hour depending on how good they are. If you have specialized experience in technical fields, you can earn a lot more since there’s higher demand.
9. Be Part Of A Focus Group
A focus or research group asks for your opinion on a variety of things. You might watch a new television program or try a new snack. There are countless groups available, and you can find them online.
You may have to travel to the location and the panel can take a few hours. It’s possible to earn $300 per session if you choose wisely. This could be a great income option, but it might not be available all the time.
